There are a lot of myths about Indian Administrative service and other civil services. Some people think that the salary of these officers are too high and some people think it too low. The fact is that starting gross salary is around Rs. 40000. A common perception is that these officers have no power without the support of ruling political party. But the Indian constitution and law assure certain authority and safeguards to these bureaucrats. The career is both challenging and interesting. You get a lot of respect and power to serve your countrymen.
