Subjects which you understand easily and in which you are strong.

according to my view,
you have to chose those optional subject in which you full interset
in others words, you should choose your field/stream related subject.

If you have done your graduation in engineering then you can choose Physics and mathematics as the optional subjects.
Or you can choose any of the subjects from the list of the Optional subjects of UPSC given below:-

Engineers can any subjects for IAS exam as we know that no subject is more difficult as compared to any subject in engineering.Engineers have passed these subjects so they don't face more problems but still they are advised to take subjects where calculation and logical reasoning related questions are asked.Some subjects are-
