Indian Administrative Services i.e. IAS and Indian Police Services i.e. IPS exams are conducted by UPSC.
You can apply online for these examinations at www.upsconline.nic.in. For IAS/IPS exams you can get the job of Indian Administrative Service like DC Deputy Collector or DM deputy Magistrate and for IPS you can get Superintendent Of Police i.e. SP etc.
First of all you have to go through the Question Pattern for which exam you want to appear. You can download and print Previous Years Question Papers at www.upsc.gov.in
NCERT books are best for the basic knowledge because it covers full syllabus of UPSC.
You can also practice more and more MODEL Question Papers from a sample paper by which you can experience to the Questions coming in UPSC exams.

the eligibility criteria for IPS exam is you must complete your graduation or you can apply for UPSC in your final year of graduation. your age must be within 21 ears to 30 years. for preparation you must try to solve previous year question papers.

In order to become IPS Officer, you should have to crack CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION being conducted by UPSC every year.
