The UPSC exam of 2012 is crossed now you have to go for 2013 UPSC exams. Union Public Service Commission conducts examination for IPS i.e. Indian Police Services. For IAS/IPS exams you can get the job of Indian Administrative Service like DC Deputy Collector or DM deputy Magistrate and for IPS you can get Superintendent Of Police i.e. SP etc.
The duration of exam of UPSC for IAS/IPS is as follows:
Date for filling up application: 5 March 2012 Approx February-March Month.
Date of Notification: 4 Feb 2012 Approx February Month.
Date of Examination:
For Prelims 20 May 2012 Approx May month.
For Mains 5 October 2012 Approx October Month.
The eligibility criteria for appearing in UPSC exam is Graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
The Age limit for UPSC exam is 21 to 30 years on 1 August of Exam Year i.e. If you are appearing in 2012 UPSC exam then your age should between 2 August 1982 to 1 August 1991.
Hello, jitendra, first you register yourself on UPSC website and then you can apply for post concerned. actually a common exam is conducted by IAS/IPS/IFS and you can apply for anyone, and you canbe come IPS on behalf of MERIT base.
you can apply for the civil services examination wherever notification next time as this years application has been closed.
you can apply by visiting www.upsconline.nic.in
you can choose IPS option as priority from among other option it will be granted only according to vacancies n your merit order.

the age limit is for general category is 21 to 30 years. and attempt the exam 4 time.
the age limit is for obc category is 21 to 33 years ( 3 years relaxation ). attempt the exam 7 times.
age limit for SC/ST category is 21 to 35 years and attempt chance till overage. means unlimited
for ips some physical requirement:-
1. minimum height is 162cm.
2. chest without expand 80cm.
3. with expand 85 cm.

eligibility criteria for IPS (INDIAN POLICE SERVICES )
1 Graduation from recognized Institute.
2.Candidates appearing in final year can also apply for the upsc exam.
3.There is no percentage bar(in graduation)
4.Age should be between 21 to 23 years.
5.Candidate be a citizen of India.

Upsc exams applications can be made online or offline both ways
For offline applications for IPS you will have to visit head post office to buy the upsc form for IPS . then you can easily fill the form and send to the appropriate address.
For online applications for IPS you will have to log on to www.onlineupsc.nic.in where you can fill the form following the given there .the online form filling consist of two parts namely registration part I and registration part II. After filling the you can easily make submit.
with the advent of computer technology upsc now has started taking online applications along with offline or postal applications . in case you do not get the hall ticket by post you can log on to www.upsc.gov.in and get your hall ticket downloaded making use of date of birth and registration id .
