dear friend,
UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam is completely changed. Now in UPSC exams two papers are conducted which comes from general Studies and logical and reasoning. It is now called CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude Test). There is no optional subject for prelims exam. both papers are of objective type.
Civil Services mains exam still same. you have to choose optional subjects for mains Exam. For preparation study MC graw hill books related to optional subjects also keep solving previous year papers.
Good Luck.....
for prelims exam, no optionals in the current pattern. For paper1 general studies read Tata mcgraw hill book, India year book ,NCERT books for history and geography(std XI and XII) and also follow newspapers regularly. Practice many model tests in lot of websites.
FOr paper 2, get some good aptitude book like R.s Agarwal, Abhijit Guha etc Also improve you English language skills
