Re: Can CS students appear in IES exam in Civil Branch?

    Hello Friend,

The eligibility norm for IES exam specifies that an engineering graduate is allowed to appear for the exam. It does not say that ony civil engineers can appear for Civil engineering jobs. So, if you can study civil engg. subjects, you can very well appear in IES exam with civil branch.

    Thanks,
    goyalk

Re: Can CS students appear in IES exam in Civil Branch?

    Hello

The computer science students are applicable for the IES exams but the basic problem with it is that you will have to apply for the below mentioned four streams

    ~MECHANICAL.
    ~CIVIL.
    ~ELECTRICAL.
    ~ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION.

Yes you being a computer engineer will have to apply for the below mentioned four engineering category, you can not apply for your stream.A strange sort of system and criteria, you will have to study those subjects of all the above four streams rather than the subjects that you studied in all these four years.

Re: Can CS students appear in IES exam in Civil Branch?

    Yes my friend,

I would like to congratulate you because you are definitely eligible for the same in respect of educational requirement.

computer science students are definitely eligible for the INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION infect all the engineering
graduates are eligible to apply for the same so you are also eligible for the same .

but this is not the only need for the examination ,this is just like a glass of water in the ocean , you have to fulfill all the essential requirements of the examination ,

so to know about what requirements and things you should concentrate on , see the details provided here.

and yes you can appear as a civil candidates because here it doesn't matter from what branch you done your degree you have to attend the paper in one of the four branches only .

this is the restriction of this examination.

    Branches:-

    1. electrical engineering.

    2. mechanical engineering.

    3. civil engineering.

    4. electronics and telecommunication engineering.

so if you have to choose one of them than you can choose civil branch ,no an problem will occur.

    see the other details .

    age criteria:-

    *for general :- 21-30 years .

*for obc category :- 21-33 years,

    *for sc/st category:- 21-3 years.

and finally no of attempts are the other restriction of this examination so you should not apply for the examination if you are not fully prepared for the same.

    1. for general there are 4 attempts are allowed.

    2. for obc category it is 7 .

    3. and for sc/st category there are no any restriction of attempts,

so in short, you can choose civil branch as you are a cs student.

    best of luck !
