if you are thorugh in the core subjects of mechanical engineering you can opt for mechanical engineering

hi
if you have done your graduation in the mechanical engineering stream and if you have got the fundamental concepts of the subjects included in the mechanical engineering, then mechanical engineering will serve to be the best assist for you in the mains examination.
Moreover, if you study the mechanical engineering for the mains in the upsc exam, then there are also the chances present through which you can get into the engineering services. You can take the advantage of your preparation in two different exams. Therefore if you want to take mechanical engineering as your subject then you should definitely go on for this
mechanical engineering is a very good subject in upsc civil services examination. if you are from mechanical engineering background then it would be easy for you to tackle. prepare with full dedication success is waiting for you.
all the best
happy learning!!!
If you are confident in this subject then you can opt for this....
I am also from mech. engg. background but I think it is difficult for me to do some good with this sub. as a opt. bcz it contains a lot of difficult things like in thermal,FM,refrigeration,HMT and even in DOM,mechanics which may take a lot of time to solve without a good prepration....
If you are preparing also for some other engg. field exams than you should go with this sub. as an option but if u are targeting only for civil services exam where scoring is imp. and u are not comfirtable with mechanical ,,,you can go for sociology, geography, pub admin. or any arts sub. because u will find them easier than that one(mech.) with a good study material...
You can also take maths since it is a good opt for science students, but it is also not a good scoring sub. and needs good preperation to score high.
most engg background students take arts and science sub because they find them as a good choice to prepare well and also to score well.
so analyze yourself before taking any decision....
best of luck..
