Hi friend,
Well mine friend, there are many good subjects to be pursued , but since you have Mechanical Engineer as a your Graduation trade,
So, you will have basic advantage in the examination taking this trade, so mine suggestion will be to take this trade.
and other rest optional subjects may be like :
>> Geography(I prefer it)
>> History(you may take it if you like to remember things)
>> Political science(Not bad subject to be pursued)
>> Mathematics(a nice but tougher version)
>> Language, yeah it's a better option if you like any specific language like English, Hindi, Bangla, etc

Friend as you mentioned that you are mechanical engineer, So you should choose mechanical engineering as one subject.
You should have good commands in this subject and you are well familiar from this subject.
As a Second subject you can choose as per your interest.
You can choose History or Psychology.
These are considered as good subject.
If you choose history, it will help you to cover GS portion.
Best of Luck
AS you are the Mechanical branch student so that following two subjects will be benefit to you .
1) Mechanical Engineering
2) Maths
As you are in Mechanical branch so that mechanical engineering is one of the optional subject for you because you are learning in that branch and you should familiar with most of the subjects related to mechanical so it is better for you to select this subject .
As you are in engineering so that you will be learned all the maths subjects and also you learn the 12th science maths and in mechanical branch also you used the concept of maths in various subject so that you will fill comfortable in this subject .
So as per the my opinion you should select the above mentioned subjects .
But if you interested in other subject then you can go for that subject but be careful while selecting the subject .
best of luck
