Dear, This years form fill up of Civil Services is already out dated. So, on 1-8-2013 your age will be 31 years 9months and 25 days as per your Birth Date. So, you will crossed the age limit of 30 yrs.for civil Services, which is the upper age limit for a General Caste Candidate. Now the question is whether you belongs to other reserved categories or not? If you belong the same then follow these limits:- 1. SC/ST upper age limit is 35 yrs. 2. OBC upper age limit is 33 yrs. Hope, now you will understand the matter clearly,
if we calculate your age (2012-1981=31 years) on the closing date of the application your age will be around 30 years 5 months which is clearly over the 30 years which prescribed upper age by the upsc for the GENERAL CANDIDATE ,so your are not eligible for the upsc prelim's 2012 unless you are a civilian central govt. employee
According to the eligibility of UPSC prelims, your age must not reach 30 years on 1st August every year if you come under general category. If you are SC/ST,then your age can be relaxable upto a maximum of 5 years. If you come under OBC, then its 3 years relaxation. But I can see that your age exceeds 30 years, so i am sorry to say that you are uneligible for UPSC prelims 2012.
you're eligible only if you belong to any reserved category, else not.
this is because there is a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit for the reserved candidates while it's 30 years for the general category.
all the best.
The age limit for the UPSC exam is below :
For general cast the age limit is between 21-30 .
For obc there are 3 years relaxion of the upper limit .
For sc/st there are 5 years relaxion of the upper limit .
now currently your age is above 30 and you are in the general cast so that according to above criteria you are not eligible for the exam .
Because your age is higher than the maximum age limit .
Dear pal,
- Aspirant of general category are eligible till they complete 30 years of age while those of BC, MBC are eligible upto 33 years and those of SC, ST, defence person and physically changeled are eligible till they are 35 years of age.
- If you are general category aspirant then you are eligible to appear for exam that is conducted this year only. But the last date for applying for the exam got over. If you have applied for the exam means you can make it this year or else you can not .
- But if you are from other category you can apply for few more years also. You can apply three more years if you are BC aspirant or five more years if you are SC and st aspirants.
- Do not worry even though if you are not able to apply you can apply for certain other government jobs other than through UPSC exam.
