Hey friend, let me assure you that the degree which you are presently possesing is absolutely fine to appear for UPSC exams and I cannot agree with the fact that a specific degree in international relations will give you an extra edge. What you need to achive your upsc dreams is obviously first thing which you are already having the degree and urge to crack the exam.Next dedicate yourself to the sincere preparation of these exams and you will surely crack some day.And yes,as to your secodn question, govt jobs are at all times the best secured jobs.I can give you my word of honour regarding that!Good Luck!

    Dear Candidate,
-The UPSC treats all the degrees of Graduation as equivalent, thereby no special degree would add to your advantage during the Interviews of these examination.
-Instead,you should look to perform well in the PRELIMINARY and the MAINS(if any),so as to put a good overview of yours. Then you can look forward to expand your overall personality which is highly beneficial for the Interviews.

Although the IAS,IPS,IFS Posts offered through the Civil Service Exams are considered to be the best, involving loads of honour and allowances, being an Electronic and Communications Engineer, you can also opt for the IES Exams.

Earning only degree cannot give job assurance. You will have to work hard for UPSC exams. You can get degree as per your choice that will add to your qualification & knowledge, but UPSC demands a different level of preparation. Other than Technical knowledge it also checks for Clarity of expression, ranges and depth of interests and personal, Awareness and concern for socio-economic problems, reasoning ability etc.

    How to prepare?
1)Time allocation/Time management is very important factor.
2)Make your own schedule according to syllabus.
    3)Reduce your mental stress level.
    4)Be cool & confident always.
5)Purchase standard & good books for preparation.
6)Read news paper & magazine regularly.
7)Keep yourself updated about general knowledge & current affairs.
8)You may also attain coaching classes.
    9)Practice previous year question papers.
10)Make your English communication level strong.

    All d best!

    Hi friend,

Well mine friend, First of all , you did a good asking Question on this site..

Coming back to Topic,, There's no examination held in India called UPSC examination..

UPSC is a council on Union level of India,, which for sure is supreme Council for taking High Level Bureaucratic exams.

SO, I giving you answer assuming that You are talking about Civil services.

So, you should know that there's no degree which is given some advantage...
It actually depends on how on represent yourself near Examiner.

    >>To complete in Interviews ,, what you need is Good Confidence,,(it is just one thing which decides who is going to be selected).

    >>Interviewers look for people who have capacity to Lead some bunch of People and who have Heart to take Bold Decisions and then Stand on That decision.

Since, you have completed previous two levels of Examination ,, you must hold awesome Knowledge in your area..

So, be Bold and Be Confident and you will Crack Interview

And Yeah,, Best of Luck from UPSCDISCUSSIONS.COM

    Hope it helps!!
