    First of all I would like to tell you what is IAS.

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative services.

    >>It is comes under the category of civil services examinations and is conducted by UPSC.

    Maximum age limitations:

    For general: 30 years

    For obc:33 years

    For SC/ST:35 years.


    Minimum % in graduation:

    Friend,only passing % is required in the IAS exams.however better % will enhance your qualities in personal interview.

    No of attempts:


    >>General:4

    >>OBC:7

    >>SC/st:no limit.


    Note: Yes, bachelor's degree from the IGNOU( Indira Gandhi national open university) is valid for IAS exams.


    The examination is conducted in three stages.

    >>Preliminary

    >>Main examination.

    >>Personal interview.

    Yes open University IGNOU is recognised by UGC and Graduation Degree is valid to appear in the UPSC exams.
    Also note that there is no prescribed percentage criteria to appear in the CIVIL SERVICES EXAM.
    So,you are eligible on the above grounds and no need to worry,as you are a graduate and % doesnt matter.

    UPSC conducts the Civil Services Exam once a year.Through this exam you will get selected to posts like
    IFS,IAS,IPS and 24 other posts advertised in the notification like Indian revenue services,Indian ordanance
    factory services,Indian Civil accounts,Indian postal service,Indian corporate law,etc.So,its scope is very vast.

    UPSC civil services exams consists of 3 stages - Prelims/CSAT, Mains and Interviews.The notification for the prelims exams will come out in feb 2013 and prelims will be held in may 2013

    Min eligibilty is graduation pass
    age should be between 21 and 30 years
    OBC gets 3 years age relaxation and SC/ST gets 5 years

    Number of attempts- 4 for general and 7 for OBC and no restriction for SC/ST

    IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year . This year prelims examination was already completed and Next announcement will be publish in the month of Feb or March in the official website of UPSC / employment news .

    Eligibility Criteria :-

    ~~ Applicant must be Citizenship of India .
    ~~ Applicant should have a completed graduate degree with any desire subject .
    ~~ Studying in the final year of graduate degree may also eligible to apply .
    ~~ There is no percentage bar required for this examination .


    Age limits :-

    ~~ Applicant must have a minimum 21 years .
    ~~ Maximum 30 years of as on 1st August of the year of examination .
    ~~ Upper age limits is applicable for SC/ST and other reserved categories .

    Upper Age limits :-

    ~~ SC/ST :: 5 years .
    ~~ OBC :: 3 years .
    ~~ Ex-Servicemen :: 5 years .
    ~~ PWD candidates :: 10 years .


    Attempts :-

    ~~ Four :: General category .
    ~~ Seven :: OBC category .
    ~~ No limits :: SC/ST category .

    Eligibility criteria for UPSC Examinations:-

    Nationality:- The candidate must be the citizen of India to apply for the Indian Administrative Service & Indian Police Service.

    Age Limit: - The candidate should be minimum 21 years of age and the maximum age is 30 years.

    Educational Qualification: - The candidate should have a degree completed from any of the institutes established by an Act of Parliament or any University deemed by the University Grant Commission under section 3, Act, 1956.

    Number of attempts: - Every general eligible candidate is allowed to attempt the Civil Services Examination 4 times.
    For OBC candidate�s no. of attempts is 7 times and for SC/ST infinite no. of attempts

    Physical Fitness Criteria: - Candidate appearing for the Civil Service Examination should be physically fit according to the standards of the UPSC.

    IAS: Stands for the Indian Administrative Service

    For the post you have to write the civil services exam

    And have to clear the exam then you can get the job

    For the exam yes the Ignou degree is valid as the university is fully recognized

    And the answer for all other your questions is below

    The Criteria for the exam:

    The Candidate must be pass in graduation from a recognized Indian university

    The candidate of the final year can also apply for the exam

    Their is no need of specific percentage to appear in the exam just need to be pass in graduation with pass marks


    Age Limitations:

    The Minimum age required to appear in the exam is 21 and maximum 30 for general

    And for the obc the minimum age required is 21 and maximum 33

    And for the sc,st the minimum age is same and maximum is 35



    Attempts :

    The maximum attempts allowed for General is 4

    The maximum attempts allowed for obc is 7

    Their is no restriction on the sc,st

    here i would try to give all the answers of your queries .

    first of all the notification for the examination is released in the month of February and the examination is held in the month of may .

    this year the prelims examination was held on 20 may 2012 .
    to become eligible for the examination you must fulfill all the criteria(s) and all other qualifications required for the same.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-

    1. the candidate must be an indian citizen .

    2. the candidate must be a graduate in any stream from a govt. recognized university.



    AGE CRITERIA:-

    1. for general category:-21-30 years.
    2. for obc category :-21-33 years.
    3. for sc/st category :- 21-35 years.


    NO OF ATTEMPTS:-

    1. for general category:- 4 attempts.
    2. for obc category :- 7 attempts.
    3. for sc/st category :- no any restriction.



    THERE IS NO ANY PERCENTAGE BARRIER , so all the graduates are eligible for the same.

    Age limit:
    21-30 years for general candidates as on 1st august of the month you are applying
    upper age relaxation for OBC -upto 33 years
    for SC/ST upto 35 years
    number of attempts 4 for general , 7 for OBC and no count till 35 years for SC/ST
    usually notification comes in january/february and last date to apply will be on march month
    minimum educational qualification is a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. no minimum percentage is considered.

    dear aspirant,
    to become an IAS officer you have to apply for the civil services examination conducted by upsc every year.


    IGNOUs graduates are eligible to apply for the civil services exam.
    so you can definitely apply for this examination .


    the notification for the upsc civil services exam is released every year in the month of FEB/MARCH.
    this year it was released on 4th feb.


    from 4th feb to 5th march of this year
    the application form were available for the aspirants
    in the head post offices and on the website of upsc www.upsconline.nic.in


    education requirement for this exam is graduation with any subjects from a recognized institute under ugc.
    and there is no percentage criteria to apply for this exam.
    candidate must have at least passing marks to become eligible for the exam.


    the age limit to apply for this exam is 21-30 years for the general category candidates .
    while for the obc and sc/st category candidates there is an age relaxation of 3 and 5 years respectively.


    as far as number of attempts


    for general category only 4 attempts are allowed.
    for the obc category there are 7 attempts for them to apply.


    and for sc/st candidate there is no restriction on the number of attempts.

    dear friend,

    first of all i want to make you clear that IAS is not a exam it is post you can get after clearing the all sections of UPSC Civil Services Exam.

    1. Prelims or CSAT
    2. Mains
    3. Interview


    Eligibility Criteria:

    1. Graduation in any field from recognized college or university.

    2. Age Limit:

    • General: 21 years to 30 years
    • OBC: 21 years to 33 years
    • SC/ST: 21 years to 35 years.

    There is no consideration of percentage for UPSC Civil Services exam. you just need of graduation degree with any percentage.


    Limit Number of Attempts:

    1. General: 4 attempts
    2. OBC: 7 attempts
    3. SC/ST: no limit

    this year the last date for filling the application form for CSAT is already gone. so you have to wait for next year 2013.

    for UPSC your igonu graduation degree is valid.
