Below optional subjects are not allowed with the combination's in UPSC:
-Commerce accountancy and Management.
-Sociology and anthropology
-Statistics and Mathematics.
-Management and Public administration.
-any two(2) branches/streams in engineering.
-Combination of two(2) literature.
-Public Administration and political sciences.
-Medical science and Animal husbandry.

While choosing the optional subjects for UPSC Mains exam you should keep following things in mind :
-UPSC Mains Exams are conducted to judge the candidates abilities esp. two things
Indepth Knoweledge and Intellegence of the candidates.
So choose a subject from your graduate level as you will be familiar with it and it will be easy for you to grasp
more knoweledge on it.
-Choose subjects of your interest and on which you feel you can command easily in less time and in details.
-Choose the subject which you understand well so that you can put forward your views and indepth knowelege
