    hi,
your age is now 29 years, 6 months and 19 days.

there is various number of attempts depending upon your category.

    for general category,
there is 4 times of attempts.

    for obc candidates,

    7 times

    for sc/st students,

    there is no limit.

    Hello

As per as your birthday, you only have one attempt of the the civil services,if you are a general candidate,4 attempts if you are a OBC candidate,6 attempts if you are a SC/ST.

The age limit for the general candidates is 21 to 30 years for the general candidate.
21 to 33 years for the OBC.
    21 to 35 years for the SC/ST.

You should be 21 years before 1st August of the exam year and should not be of 30 years before 1st August, then you can apply for the UPSC civil services exams.
As your birthday is on 16/7/1983 ,you will be eligible for the 2013 civil exams ,but not for the next one.

Only if you belong to the reserved categories.

The minimum age required to apply for Civils exam is 21 years and maximum is 30 years for general category.

There is upper age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

The maximum age limit for OBC Category is 33 years.

The maximum age limit for SC/ST Category is 35 years.

The maximum age limit for PWD/Ex-service men is 40 years.

So, you have chances to apply for the exam only if you belong to any reserved category.

There is also some relaxation in the number of attempts for the exam if you belong to any reserved category.

For general category only 4 attempts.

    For OBC Category 7 attempts.

There is no restriction for SC/ST candidates.
