hi,
you are eligible to appear in the upsc during the final year of your engineering provided you complete 21 years of age as on august in the year of the exam.so just gear up.choose your optionals.interest in the subject and availability of study material and guidance should be the criteria for selecting the optionals.first go through the syllabus and choose two optional subjects from the list provided by the upsc.start preparing the optionals once you have selected.keep tab of the current affairs and simultaneously start preparing for general studies as well.from january till may prepare only for preliminary exam.after preliminary exam is over you can again resume your mains preparation and finish it before 1month of the exam date.after that only revise and take the exam confidently.
my dear friend,
i must suggest you to start your preparation with the NCERT books,
to have better knowledge of concepts of the high level,
you must have to gain the base knowledge of all those concepts and the base concepts are in the NCERT books,
you should first manage your time for study,
make a time table giving justice to every subject,
give proper time to every subject and prepare well.
also for better preparation you can download the previous year question papers form the official website of upsc,
solve more and more practice papers in the last days of the exam.
all the best
