My age will be 20 yrs 6 months on 1st August 2014. Can I attempt IES exam next year?

my age will be 20 year 6 months after my b tech (up to 1 august 2014) can I sit in IES exam of 2014?

No dear you can't apply for IES exam in 2014. because according to eligibility criteria for IES you must have attained 21 years of age on 1 January of the year of exam.

For IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam you must have engineering degree in any discipline.

Indian Engineering Services exam is conducted by UPSC every year. But you are required to give the papers in any one of the following four streams.
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering


for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some other requirement like:

>>Engineering degree in any discipline from recognized college or university

>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

unless you are not completely 21 years of age at the time of filling up the form, you are not allowed to give the IES exam.
For giving the IES exam, you need to be a graduate in mechanical/electrical/ECE/civil engineering
And your age should be in between 21-30 years of age

you cant apply for IES exams as your age is not eligible for that exam.:
your age should be 21 year on 1 january.
as age limit is 21 - 30.
and you should be graduated from any of the well know engineering college.

No you can't appear to IES exam conduct on 1st Aug 2014.
Age limit is 21-30.For giving IES exam you must be graduate from of on the engineering stream such as-

1-EC
2-ME
3-EE
4-CE

You can appear in 2015 IES exams.

Sorry to say but you have to wait for IES exam as the age limits says that candidates needs to be above 21 years not below than that . So as you have

mentioned that you are age will be 20 years 6 months you cannot apply for 2014 IES exam . But surely can apply for 2015.

sorry to say but you can not apply for IES EXAM.

you must be 21 age for the exam.

LET SEE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-

* you should be passed engineering from the recognized university.

* you must be indian.

* age should be 21 to 30 years.

* age relaxation for obc 3 years, sc/st 5 years.

No,you cannot apply for IES entrance .Since your age must have crossed 21 years.And so you are not eligible. You can try next year.And you have more then enough time to prepare and give it next year as competition is very tough.But I don't believe you because IES can be given only after B.tech in core field .And students nearly crosses 21 years since it is a B.tech course.And so I say if you have completed engineering with core subjects then only you can give the entrance.

Well dear i am sorry to say that with your age you are not eligible to write ies exam.the mimimum age required for the exam is 21 years.you should have attained the minimum age on the 1st january of the year in which exam is conducted.
Four engineering streams are eligible.
1.civil engineering
2.electrical engineering

Sorry, you will be not eligible for IES entrance exam.
IES exam stands for Indian Engineering service.The exam conducted by UPSC once in a year.

Eligibility Criteria for IES exam:

1. You should have posses Engineering degree from a recognized University.
2.The minimum required age to apply for the exam is 21 year.The applying age criteria is same for all the categories.
The upper age limit is relaxed for certain reserved categories like OBC 3 year & SC/ST 5 year.

I am sorry to say you didn't qualify the IES examination.Because the age should be inbetween 21 to 30 years only on the date of notification.So wait and prepare well for next year.

The criteria for age is that you should be 21 on 1st august of the exam year to be eligible for the exam.As you are not completing 21,you will not be eligible.It is good that you will get a spare year without losing your age.In fact you will not be eligible for any engineering vacancy in govt sector as the minimum age is asked for 21year.You can only apply for CDS and AFCAT which allows lower age than 21.Till that time prepare well and if you are placed in campus selection then it will be an added advantage.All the best
