Yes friend you can write for civil service exam. Degree in distance mode is fully valid for CSE. On condition that the university or college should be recognized by IGNOU or DEC.

UPSC plans the CS exam every year for the post of IAS, IPS or IRS every year and candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria of CS exam can apply.

Eligibility Condition for Civil Service Aptitude Test

Candidates should have bachelor degree in any stream from recognized university or college or its equivalent.

in case of distance mode college should be valid by IGNOU or DEC.

Final year candidates can also apply for CS exam.

There is no restriction of percentage in graduation.

Your must attain the age of 21 years but not more than 30 years

Age relaxation

For SC/ST + 5 years

For OBC + 3 years

For PH + 10 years

For ex service man + 5 years

You should be the citizen of India.


There is limited attempt to apply for civil service exam so candidates should apply only when he/she is confident for the selection.

Number of chances for CSAT exam

7 attempt for OBC candidates

4 attempt for General candidates

No limit for SC/St candidates.

Candidates can apply for civil service exam through Online and offline application form.

Form fee is only Rs. 100.

For the 2013 UPSC is going to release notification on 2/2/2013 and last date of application is 4/3/2013. Preliminary exam will be held on 19/5/2012.
