IES stand for Indian Engineering Service which is conducted by UPSC.Only B-TECH degree holder and some M.Sc department are applicable for this exam.
If you have M.Sc degree in Physics , Radio Physics then you are applicable for IES exam.

- Indian Citizenship
- Graduation from any govt. recognized university of India.
- Age of 21 to 30 years for open category.
- Age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years for OBC and SC/ST category respectively.

Let me tell you in brief about the eligibility criteria for the IES exams:
1.Academic qualifications:
>>Bachelor's degree in any discipline of engineering from a recognized university .Final year engineering candidates can also apply for the exams.
>>There is one limitation that you can give the exam in only four core streams of engineering which are as below:
1.Civil Engineering
2.Mechanical Engineering
3.Electrical Engineering
4.Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
So being a production engineer ,you are eligible for the Indian Engineering services but you will have to give the exam in the above four mentioned disciplines.
2.Age criteria :
>>The age limit for the General candidates is 21-30 years.
>>For OBC it is 21-33 years
>>For SC/ST it is 21-35 years.
3.Nationality : You must be an Indian Citizen
4.No of attempts:
>>General:4
>>OBC:7
>>SC/ST: no limit.

YES YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR APPLYING IN IES EXAM.
The educational qualification is very simple and straight,you just need to have a engineering degree that is either a B.E or B.TECH degree in any stream.You will be eligible for engineering services.
The fact that may surprise you is that you will have to apply for IES choosing any one subject between
1)Mechanical Engineering
2)Civil Engineering
3)Electronics and Communication
4)Electrical Engineering.
But definitely not production engineering,your four years of study is hardly going to help you in any way.
