dear aspirant,
Science is good stream and you need to choose science only if you are good at Math, Physics and Chemistry. From Civil Services Exam point of view Science is helpful. As you can choose Math and Chemistry as optional subjects.
but if you are not good at physics and chemistry then you can also choose Arts(with Geography,History and Mathematics) this combination is considered the best for Civil Services.
Civil Services exam constitutes three parts:
1. CSAT
2. Mains
3. Interview
for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some requirement like:
>>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.
>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Limit Number Of Attempts:
>>General: 4 attempts
>>OBC: 7 attempts
>>SC/ST: No Limit
UPSC also provide the facility to apply for the exam online on following official link of UPSC:

hi aspirant
there is lot of time you have to try for it. you can choose any stream for it. it req. graduation only.
hello
friend always choose the subject which you will comfort not which is required.
if you choose the subject which has a good grip over the concept then you no longer a reader, you are have command on the subject.you enjoy studying.
if you feel satisfy with science then you can go ahead for it.
as you know for civil service main exam ,you had to opt for optional subjects.this a competitive exam, many of the them trying hard to get the same post you are looking for it.right..
then its a time to look for the subject which you know and have grip on it.
if you are planning to take BiPC (BIOLOGY,PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY),then you can choose as botany, zoology chemistry as optional subject.right
remember="People with clear, written goals accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them can ever imagine"
to become IPS you need to face the civil service exam conduct by upsc once in a year in the 3 stages
1)preliminary test
2)civil service main exam
3)interview
