What exactly IAS officers do? Should I take mathematics in 12th to become IAS officer later? Which stream to opt between Commerce and Science?

Im cls11 science,in my younger age,i see that IAS officer are so rich,people respect them and admired them...i'm a kind of fan too......but i don't even knw whats an IAS officer's do......just because its the highest job i knew that i wana become it......i want to become an IAS officer when i grew up....im 17 years old....so,on cls12...will i still need to take mathematics,i want to drop it,im very weak ?And after i finish cls12,where will i join?what subj needed to take?how many years needed after cls 12 to become an IAS without loosing a year?which one i better,from Arts or Science.?

for IAS you have to knowledge of Maths , english and hindi.

For IAS Officer,You will have to attend the �UPSC CSAT Exam".
Age Limit : 21 to 30 years.
Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

Following are the subject in thoes you can score more
History , Pol science , Philosophy etc.

For engineering,MCA mathematics is required.

There are several levels of IAS Officers. The duties for each level are similar with increasing responsibility as level increases. These levels include: Junior Officers; Senior Scale (includes Under Secretary, District Magistrates, Directors of public enterprises and Directors of government departments); Selection Grade-Director; Senior Administrative Grade; and Secretary.

IAS Officers are involved in planning in their district, making decisions on action to be taken. Setting plans down on paper and modifying and/or clarifying them. Policy making is another duty of an IAS Officer. Once those policies have been made and clarified, it is the IAS Officer's responsibility to implement them, assuring rules and regulations are followed. IAS Officers must also supervise the progress of projects in a wide range, from the public to the corporate sectors. IAS officers must also monitor funds for these projects, assuring that the funds are used for the intended purposes.



Look you don�t have to work out any 10+2 standard mathametics in IAS examination. There may be very few questions on that standard but not typically. You can solve them in examination if you have thorough practice of the model questions & previous years questions.
It is good to hear from you that you are targeting IAS examination from now. But I must advise you to complete your 12^th level with the utmost care. Then you should consult your parents & teachers that what is good for you. Own decision is always welcome but as you are a teenage you must hear the advices of your parents & teachers. Anyway now please take care of your 10+2 level exam preparation first. After your examination you will get lot of time to think about.
