If you want to become an IAS or IPS Officer then you must have following qualifications and eligibilities

If you have a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks and your age is between 21-30 years then you may apply for this exam and relaxation in age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates.

Physical Standards are also required but only for IPS Officer not for IAS Officer and there are at least 3-5 steps in these UPSC - Civil Services exams to become a officer

    1. Paper I - Objective

    2. Paper II - Descriptive

    3. Interview Process and Group Discussion

These three steps are compulsory to qualify for both posts

    4. Physical Standards - Hight, Weight, Eye Sight, Running, Weight Lifting etc.

This step is most necessary for IPS Officer

You will have to study hard if you want to seriously become an IAS or IPS Officer and you must give at least 15 hours for your study then you have full chances and if you will not take it seriously then you will not get the success.

You have to complete graduation to apply for IAS/IPS exam.

IAS is Indian Administrative services exam . This is a state level exam and will be posted in all over India if you become a IAS officer.

The basic qualification for IAS exam is Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university.

You must be a citizen of India if you want to apply for this exam.

The age limit is 21 to 30 years for general category candidates. There is age relaxation available for SC/ST for 5 years , OBC for 3 years .

So you can calculate whether you are eligible for it or not.

You have to pass three stages of exam to become a IAS officer. First will be preliminary exam which you have to pass if you want to proceed for mains exam.

If you don't pass prelims then you are not eligible for mains exam.

After mains you have to face personal interview. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in mains and interview.

Those who are high on merit list will get the job ahead of other competitors.
