I'm Aruna. I completed my graduation. I am willing to serve for Indian Military.
So I want to know about the details of exams conducted by OTA/IMA. What is the procedure to apply for OTA/IMA exams? How can i mentally/physically prepare myself for the tests? what are t he eligibility criteria for appearing for the tests? what are all the syllabus covered under these tests? INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY, 2012:-

-- Only unmarried male candidates can apply for this exam.
-- Candidates must not born earlier than 2ND January 1989 and not after 1ST January 1994.
-- Candidates must be a degree holder from recognized board.
-- Candidates who is Nepal or Bhutan or Tibet citizen, who is ready to accept the citizenship of India can also apply for this exam.

Officers Training Academy(O.T.A.), 2012:-

--Both men & women are eligible to apply for the test.
--Candidate must be Indian Citizen.
--Candidates must not born earlier than 2nd January 1988 and not later than 1 January 1994.
--Candidate must be a degree holder to apply in test.
--Candidate must be physically fit.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE EXAM:-

Candidate can apply in 2 ways.
Online
Offline

For offline:-
Candidate should fill the form by black/blue dot pen.
Form should be filled up by the candidate.
Should fill up all relevant columns.
Category, signature, photo, thumb impression of the candidate must be clearly mentioned.

For Online:-
just fill up the form.
Then submit the form by clicking submit button
After submitting you will get an acknowledgement for future reference.

eligibility criteria for OTA and IMA -
1. You must have any degree from a recognized university.
2. For Naval Academy u should have B.sc in physics or maths or bachelor of engineering.
3. For AFA u should have a degree from a recognized university with physics and maths at 10+2 level or bachelor of engineering.
Age limit-
1. For IMA- 19-24 years
2. For OTA- 19-23 years
3. For AFA- 19-25 years
4. For Naval Academy- 19-22 years

OTA & IMA are the two defence academy of Defence Service. To join any of them you need to appear in CDS Examination conducted UPSC twice in a year as CDS[I] & CDS[II].

OTA is Officer's Training Academy
IMA is Indian Military Academy
CDS is Combined Defence Service
UPSC is Union Public Service Commission


Eligibility criteria for CDS(OTA) Exam:

You should have completed Graduation degree in any stream from recognized University.

Your Age should be in between 19 to 25 years.

You should be Female & Must have an Indian citizenship.

You can apply for OTA/IMA through CDS conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility Criteria for I.M.A :-

Age should be between 19 years and 24 years and only unmarried male candidates are eligible.
Graduation in any desire subject from any recognized university or equivalent qualification.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year of degree course can also apply for this examination.

Eligibility Criteria for O.T.A:-

The age should be between 19 years and 25 years and only unmarried male or only unmarried females� candidates are eligible.
The candidate should have a graduate degree from any recognized university or equivalent qualification.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year of degree course can also apply for this examination.

Physical standard required are:

1. The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease
2. The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. For Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.
3. There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body.
4. The hearing should be normal
5. A male candidate should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye with or without glasses. For women candidates the minimum acceptable visual acuity are Distant Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18.
6. A candidate should be able to recognize red and green colors

Only indian male are eligible
The candidate should be graduate in any subject from any recognized university or equivalent qualification.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year of degree course can also apply for this examination.

apart from graduation there is one more thing that will make you fully eligible for this exam that your should lie between 19-25 years OBC and SC/ST category gets an age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years respectively.

CDS stands for Combined Defense Service this exam is conducted by UPSC for twice per year.And this service Have four academy's there are.

>>Officer Training Academy(OTA).
>>Indian Military Academy (IMA).
>>Naval Academy
>>Air Force Academy

Eligibility Criteria For CDS Exam:-

Nationality:- The candidate should be citizen of india.

Age limits:-
For Officer Training Academy - 19 to 25 years.
For Indian Military Academy - 19 to 24 years.
For Naval Academy - 19 to 24 years.
For Air Force Academy - 19 to 25 years.

Educational Qualification:- The candidate should be complete the bachelor degree or engineering degree in any stream from recognized university and being final year students also eligible for this exam.

OTA stands for Officer Training Academy

IMA stands for Indian Military Academy

For joining in these forces you need to write the entrance exam and the exam which you can join is by writing the CDS Exam

This exam is conducted by UPSC and is held every year and is conducted twice in a year as CDS I and CDS II

The eligibility criteria are to be satisied in order to be eligible for writing the exam to join in these forces

Qualification Needed:

~ Candidate should be a citizen of India

~ The age limit needed for joining in IMA is that the candidate must have 19-24 years.In the case of joining in OTA it is that you need to have 19-25 years

~ Education qualification needed for IMA and OTA is that the candidate must have completed a degre from a recognized university with a fair percentage.
