Hello,
If you want to crack the exam of UPSC first you have to think about negative marking by UPSC. Papers in UPSC prelim exam are of Objective type questions in which you have to solve the paper very carefully.
In UPSC Mains exams if you have good writing skills then you can take Subjects like History, Sociology, Political Science etc.
The eligibility criteria for appearing in UPSC exam is Graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
The Age limit for UPSC exam is 21 to 30 years on 1 August of Exam Year i.e. If you are appearing in 2012 UPSC exam then your age should between 2 August 1982 to 1 August 1991.

ELIGIBILITY FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION:-
-- You must be Indian citizen.
-- You must have completed your graduation from recognized university.
-- Final year Candidate can also apply for this exam.
-- A candidate who have completed his/her graduation from technical courses can also eligible to apply.
-- Only passing mark is required to apply in the exam.
-- Age must not be less than 21 years & must not be more than 30 years.
-- For SC/ST, OBC candidates upper age relaxation is available.
-- For SC/ST- 5 years relaxation & for OBC- 3 years relaxation.

For appearing in the civil services examination, it is necessary for you to be a graduate in any field from a recognized indian university and your age should be in between 21-30 years. The number of attempts for the general category is 4.
Whereas a relaxation of 3 and 5 yeas is given to the obc and sc/st category students respectively.
