Re: What is the passing criteria of UPSC prelims?
-To pass in the UPSC prelims exams one should clear Paper-1 and Paper-2
and get a competitive score so as to be in the merit list prepared by UPSC.
-The cut-off scores in papers 1 & 2 decided by the UPSC in a year depending
upon the number of questions and level of difficulty is fixed and candidates
meeting those scores are ranked in a merit list accordingly.
So to clear the prelim exam your name should be in the merit list prepared by UPSC and there is no passing criteria as such.

Re: What is the passing criteria of UPSC prelims?
UPSC conducts various competitive exams for the several posts of central government department.
UPSC conducts the exam at all India level.
Lots of candidates apply for UPSC exam, so competition will be highly tough.
UPSC doesnt define any particular bench mark to qualify its prelims exam.
It selects the candidates on the basis of Merit list.
So you should try to give your best performance in this exam.
Work very hard because UPSC civil service exam is the toughest exam in India and second toughest exam in the world after French civil service.
