The total marks for civil services exam is 2300.
the following is the split up of marks:
A)MAINS:
*general studies(two papers)=600 marks
*optional subject 1(two papers)=600 marks
*optional subject 2(two papers)=600 marks
*essay paper =200 marks
written total =2000 marks
B)interview:=300 marks
GRAND TOTAL=2300 MARKS.
The marks obtained in the preliminary exam is not counted.
Apart from the above you have to write two papers of qualifying nature and clear them.marks will not be added to the total.

The UPSC Civil Services Exams are conducted in 3 phases :
1.Prelims/CSAT:
General Studies Paper 1 - 200 marks
General Studies Paper 2 - 200 marks
Total marks for CSAT/prelims exams is 400 marks.
2.Mains Exams:
Paper 1-One of the Indian language selected from the list of 18 languagesin the 8th sechudule of constitution(Qualifying paper)-300 marks.
Paper 2-English(Qualifying paper)-300 marks
Paper 3 -Eassay-200 marks
Paper 4 & 5-General Studies(300 marks for each paper)-600 marks
Papers 6,7,8 & 9-Any two subjects(each having 2 papers)to selected from the prescribed optional subjects(300 marks for each subject)-1200 marks
Total marks for written exams is 2000 marks
3.Interview Test-300 marks
So total marks for written and interviews is a Grand total of- 2300 marks.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for Civil Service Exam exam.
But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.
The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
Also you must be in citizen in India.
