yes my friend you are absolutely true .
art indeed is a scoring subject in respect of upsc exam like civil services examination.

in civil services exam the candidate has to choose two subjects for the mains examination.
the arts subjects like history, sociology, geography etc are very scoring in this exam .

these subjects are also helpful in general knowledge papers of the other upsc exams .

    Dear friend,

yes why not?arts subjects are highly scoring provided you also have a good grasp of the subject and good writing style.

many aspirants prefer the arts subject to the other streams because of its scoring in nature.

there are also lots of study material available for these subjects.

there is no such optional which is scoring andsafe.

Upsc strikes perfect balance between the variousoptionals by various ways.

an optional becomes marks fetching through yourhard work.

an optional has to be selected based upon yourinterest, availability of study material, proper guidance, syllabus etc..

    all the best
