Re: Are all graduates eligible for UPSC exams irrespective of their backgrounds?

    Dear Friend

YES,of course, any body who has done his graduation or has obtained his bachelor's degree from a univeristy recognised by UGC and if it is in correspondence mode then by DEC(distance education council) and UGC both as the basic educational requirement is graduation from a recognised university.

The second most important thing is that your age should be between 21-30 years if you are from a general category family.A relaxation of 3years to obc and 5 years to sc/st is provided.

Re: Are all graduates eligible for UPSC exams irrespective of their backgrounds?

    Hey there...

Yes, all graduates (3 or 4years) from any recognized university are eligible to take the exam, irrespective of their backgrounds, if you satisfy the age criteria.

UPSC requires that the candidate must be a graduate( no percentage limit) from any of the recognized universities under UGC.

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.

The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable in the follwing cases:

SC/ST: upto a maximum of five years.
BC: upto a maximum of three years.
State of Jammu & Kashmir: upto a maximum of five years.
Defence Services personnel : upto a maximum of five years

    Cheers!!

Re: Are all graduates eligible for UPSC exams irrespective of their backgrounds?

No my friend its depends on the exam because different exam have different criteria .
UPSC takes the exam like Civil Service Exam , IES exam , CDS exam etc .

=> For the Civil Service Exam , all the graduates are eligible .
=> For the IES exam , only B.E./ B.Tech candidates are eligible .
=> For CDS exam also all the candidates are eligible but for the navy and air force B.E. /B.Tech is required .

Incorporate to above criteria one should also fulfill the age criteria for the different exam like
********For Civil Service Exam and IES exam :
Age limit : 21-30 for general cast
    21-33 for obc cast
    21-35 for sc/st cast
    21-40 for physically handicapped

    **********For the CDS exam:
    Age limit :
    For army 19-25
    For navy 19-24
    For air force 19-23

=> All exams have their different selection process and different subjects and syllabus .

So first of all decide which exam you want to give then start the preparation for that exam .
