hi!
as far as best stream for graduation is concerned,it all depends on which subject you are interested and really good at.Although upsc requires merely a graduation degree, but it would be helpful for you if you like the subject.it will not only enhance your scores but also save valuable time because as you like the subject you will not find it boring and will be well-versed with it at the end of your graduation.you can devote the time thus saved in preparing for other parts of the exam like gk ,interview, eng, etc. So,try your best!!
good luck

Dear pal,
- To do UPSC you can either choose science or commerce stream. Both the stream will help you to do attempt the Exam but with science discipline you can give attempt to a more number of entrance exam.
- But if you are interested in IAS, IPS you can prefer either arts or science stream. But in case if you wish to appear in SCRA, IES, the you need to give in science stream for attempting the exam.
- As UPSC conducts exam to filling up vacancies available in various departments. You need to be clear about the discipline in which you are going to apply for .
- The eligibility various from discipline to discipline. But for most of the service exam you require bachelor degree in science so better opt to choose it. If not interested please let us know the exam which you want to apply to know the requirement
ARTS
In preliminary exam there are two exam
1.CSAT(history, English,G.K,current affairs, Geo,maths, chemistry,physics,bio)
It include all the mention subjects they all have different weight age as announce in the notification every time.
2.General studies
Main exam only for the selected who crack preliminary exam
1.Any Indian language
2.English
3.Two optional subject as choose by you while filling up the form.
4.Interview
The notification for civil service exam conduct at www.upsc.gov.in and also in employment news paper.
as mentioned above you can easily make a conclusion that more than 50% prelim's syllabus cover's by the arts stream or even you can choose two of them for your MIANS exam.
so my suggestion is that go for the ARTS stream as concerned with UPSC only that will give you added advantages for both prelim's & mains.

doesn't matter which stream are you from, to appear in the upsc exams. the whole issue revolves around how you'll prepare for your exams and increase your general knowledge to its most. otherwise in my opinion you should go for the stream you have interest in and that you'll be able to understand its syllabi completely. it's no good in taking any decision about your future that you'll regret. so just choose the one that you like the most amongst the available choices and that you can understand easily but not as a burden. as this will help you in providing available time for going through current events etc. to prepare for your upsc exams. all the best. make the right choice.
