There was never the limitation regarding the choice of subjects for the UPSC exams.The civil services that is conducted by the UPSC have many subjects to choose and the basic fact is that you just can choose any subject,irrespective of the subjects that you had in your graduation level.
The whole point is that you do not need to choose the subjects keeping in mind you had in your graduation,you can choose any subject of your choice and in that your stream of graduation will never be a issue.
It was from the very beginning,if you look at it seriously you will find that for the civil services like the IAS,IPS educational qualification is graduation from any stream,any stream means the students who have done their graduation from the fine arts field,hotel management field,they will left with no subjects to choose among the optional one,as there is no subject related to their field,but one can deny the fact that they as eligible as other graduates.
Hence you choose your subject as you want to choose,no limitations is there.

So you can choose any of the subjects you want.

To join Civil services you should have a bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks and your age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines and you should choose that for which civil service do you want to apply means - IAS or IPS or IFS. and mostly the pattern of the exam is same which is following :
Preliminary Exam : this would be objective type exam in which you will have to attempt two papers in a day and each paper would contain 200 marks so that the grand total becomes 400 and qualifying is important to appear for next exam.
Mains Examination : this would be descriptive type paper where you have to face 7 different papers and total marks would be 2000 for all 7 papers and you will have to be passed in this exam then you would be allowed to face interview process.
Interview Process : If you qualify both papers then you would be allowed to face interview and if you qualify the interview process then you would finally selected for civil services and you would be sent for 2 years training under the government then you will get the appointment.
