Eligibility criteria for CIvils

1) Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

2)Age : The upsc civil exam appear candidates age between 21 to 30 years .Age relaxation for SC ,ST ,OBC ,handicapped persons details given below.

(i)5 years age relaxable for SC,ST candidates

(ii)3 years age relaxable for OBC candidates

(iii)5 years age relaxable for defence service personnel

(iv)5 years age relaxable for ECOs /SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years assignment in the military service.

(v)5 years age relaxable in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of 5 years in military service.

Dear, For the civil service exam the graduation stream is no matter because the qualification is required for the exam candidate must have graduate in any steam from the approved university. IGNOU is the approved university and you are graduate if your age between the 21 to 30 years (unnerved category) then you is eligible for the exam, you start your preparation for the exam. Yes definitely you can easily appear for UPSC - Civil Services exams as- IAS, IPS, IFS etc. means there is no problem about your degree but the UPSC Board requires - degree or it's equivalent qualification with at least 50% marks from a recognized university so that you should have this and those candidates who are awaiting for the announcement of the result may also apply for this exam.

Your age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age will be provided as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates.

There are three steps in the civil services exams -

Paper I - Preliminary Test - Objective Type

Paper II - Main Examination - Descriptive Type

If you are appearing for exams then you need to qualify prelims then you would be allowed to appear for mains exam and to get chance for interview process you would be allowed only when you qualify both pre and mains exam and if you qualify the interview process then you would be sent to some best government and other organization for training and the duration of he training would be for 2 years and if you fail in the training then you will get one more year for training means you will be appointed after 2 years for work.
