National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA) and
combined defense services examination
are the two examination conducted by upsc for the jobs in the INDIAN army.
both these examinations are conducted twice a year by upsc.
the aspirant willing to join INDIAN ARMY through upsc would have to apply for these examinations .
NDA is 12th based examination .
the aspirant need to pass or appear in 12th in recognized board with
PHYSICS MATHEMATICS AND ENGLISH as subjects .
only unmarried INDIAN MALES are eligible to apply for this examination.
the age limit to apply for this examination is 16.5 to 19 years .
and there is no age relaxation for this examination.
women are not eligible to apply for this examination.
for the CDS examination
the aspirant must pass graduation in any subjects from a recognized university under UGC
if applying for OTA(Officer's Training Academy) or IMA(Indian Military Academy)
while if applying for the IAF(Indian air force) the aspirant must pass graduation

UPSC Recruit for Army through NDA and CDS exam. NDA is conducted for Under graduates while CDS is conducted for Graduates.
IN NDA only unmarried male candidates can apply. but in CDS OTA wing both men and women are allowed to apply.
Eligibility Criteria For CDS OTA:
1. you must have bachelors degree from recognized college or university.
2. your age must be within 19 years to 25 years
in CDS exam there is no restriction on limit number of attempts.
