    DEAR CANDIDATE,
-THE SUBJECTS YOU CHOOSE FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMS DEPEND ON YOUR AREA OF STRENGTH AND INTEREST.
-ITS BEST recommended THAT ONE OF THE SUBJECTS YOU CHOOSE IS AN ARTS SUBJECT~SUCH AS THE INDIAN HISTORY,PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION OR GEOGRAPHY.
-THE ARTS SUBJECTS LIKE MENTIONED ABOVE,ARE HIGHLY SCORING AND EVEN FORM THE BASE OF PRELIMINARY EXAMS.SO THEY ARE ALWAYS A GOOD CHOICE.
-THE OTHER SUBJECT YOU CHOOSE MUST BE FROM THE SUBJECTS YOU HAVE BEEN STUDYING WHILE YOUR GRADUATION,AS IT HELPS TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE REGARD IT,FROM BEFORE HAND.
-YOU SHOULD GIVE EQUAL IMPORTANCE TO BOTH THE SUBJECTS AS THEY CARRY EQUAL WEIGHTAGE OF MARKS.
    -IMPROVE YOUR WRITING SKILLS.
-ALSO SOLVE A LOT OF MODEL PAPERS.

THESE TIPS WOULD DO YOU ALL GOOD REGARDING THE OPTIONAL SUBJECTS IN THE MAINS EXAMS.

being a b.tech degree holder you are fully eligible for the upsc civil services exam..
you can choose any of the subject from the list of the subjects allowed by upsc for the aspirants.
but i think your choice should be according to your comfort zone .

you should be good enough in those subjects you choose for the exam because the exam is going to be really tough and a limited number of applicants are able to crack this exam.

the subjects like history, geography,Indian administration are high scoring subjects.
so you can chose one of these and second one can be one of your subject in your b.tech (graduation).
