SSC CGl (combined graduate level exam ) id conducted for various posts such as Inspector of Income Tax ,Central Excise , Preventive Officer, Inspector ,Assistant Enforcement Officer , Compiler, Tax assistant, Statistical Inspector, CBI etc
Pattern of exam:
1) Tier 1 exam:
200 mraks- multiple choice type- 200 questions- 2 hours
50 questions each from -GEneral Intelligence& reasoning,
- General awareness
- Maths
- General English
2) Tier 2 exam
candidates who qualified in tier 1 have to appear for tier 2 exam
2 papers - 2hours each
Maths- 100 questions
General English - 200 questions
3) Personality test
COmbined defense service exam:
This exam is conducted by UPSc for entry into Officers' Training academy, Indian military academy, Indian naval academy, Indian airforce academy as cadets.
pattern:
3 papers - 2 hrs each - 100 marks each
i) Maths
ii) General English
iii) General Ability
written is followed by personality test which includes group discussion, verbal & non-verbal reasoning, etc.

SSC CGL and UPSC CDS both are fully different exam and have different sets of eligibility and syllabus.
SSC and UPSC both are central government body which conducts recruitment through various kind of examination.
SSC conducts combined graduation level exam for the following posts
Auditor
Compiler
Upper Division Clerk
Sale tax assistant
Income tax assistant
Custom inspector
SI in CBI
Tax assistant in CAG
Etc.
Wile UPSC conducts the CDS exam twice in a year for the post of defense service.
It conducts the CDS exam for the selection of candidates in following academy.
Indian Military Academy
Naval Academy
Air Force Academy
Officer Training Academy
SSC conducts its most of the exam for the grade B and C post.
While UPSC conducts its most of the exam for the Grade A post.

UPSC-CDS stands for Union Public Services Commission- Combined Defence Services.
SSC-CGL stands for Staff Selection Commission- Combined Graduate Level Exam.
UPSC and SSC are central Recruitment boards.
UPSC CDS conuct the exam for
- INA
- IAF
- IMA
- OTA
SSC CGL conduct Exams for Inspector post, CBI, CID etc.

Staff Selection Commission(S.S.C) and Union Public Service Commission(U.P.S.C) are different commission's in our country.
But tasks of these commission's are same.
SSC conducts examination for selection of Staff in various central departments and UPSC conducts examination for Officer level posts like Civil services , Defense services etc.
