    Hi dear, there is no hard and fast rule for any special subject for UPSC exam. As because in every stream there have scope of UPSC exam and you may become an IPS officer.

    Dear Guest,

    * You want to become IPS officer and so you want to choose subject for preparation.

    * Friend you can choose any stream, at this stage all stream will help you in preaparation for IPS exam.

    * If you choose science stream and you can select mathematics; physics; botany; chemistry etc.. for IPS exam preparation.

    * If you choose commerce you can select commerce ; accounts , economics; etc subject for IPS exam preparation,

    * And if you choose arts stream you can select sociology; political science, public administration, law, history, geography etc.. for IPS exam preparation.

    * So choose any stream in which you interested.

    If you are interested towards I.P.S. exam you must satisfy the eligibility criteria.
    This exam is conducted by U.P.S.C.
    Have a look on the Educational qualification for I.P.S. , then choose your stream accordingly.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:-

    Educational Qualifications for IPS :-

    A candidate must have a bachelor�s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely
    Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science,
    Botany,
    Chemistry,
    Geology,
    Mathematics,
    Physics,
    Statistics and Zoology
    Agriculture,
    Forestry or
    in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

    Age limit:
    Candidate's age must not be less than 21 years & must not be more than 30 years.
    For lower caste candidates upper age relaxation is available.
    For SC/ST candidates 5 years of relaxation, For O.B.C. candidates 3 years of relaxation.

    Number of Attempts

    Four attempts for open category,
    Seven for O.B.C candidates
    Unlimited for SC/ST candidates.


    Physical fitness criteria for IPS-

    Height �
    Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) � 160 cm
    Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

    Chest �
    Male chest:- Minimum 84 cm. Expansion is 5 cm.
    Female chest:- Minimum 79 cm. Expansion is 5 cm.

    You can take whichever subject you want to study after class-10.For appearing in IPS exam,you need to be a graduate in any field from a recognized university and aged between 21-30yrs.In that case,the subject can be anything after class-10.But you always have to be thoroguh with your basics.Good Luck!

    dear all
    there is no compulsion if you are going for IPS in 11th AND 12th. you can choose any stream according to your choice. the main requirement for IPS is a graduation degree.

    You can choose any stream and subjects after 10th according to your interest....
    There is no hard and fast rule to choose any stream and you can choose any...
