What is the method to count the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam?

I have come to know that any general category candidate can give UPSC exams for maximumly four times. Please let me further know that this attempts limit is for each individual exam held by UPSC or it is the max limit for all exams in combination.

Re: What is the method to count the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam?

No it is separate for each exam
you have chance to appear four times C.S.E and the remaining exams are separate they have their code of examination in separate so there is no link between one exam and other exam..

    i.e.,

    For Example,
you can attempt Civil Service Exam 4 times , in the same way you can attempt the other exams as per its limit. for example if you have to attempt NDA as per its exam code you have to attempt it max based on its no. of attempts.

This is how you should count about No. Of attempts. in UPSC exams.

Hope you got the details about No. Of attempts .

Re: What is the method to count the Number of Attempts in UPSC exam?

    Dear Aspirant,
~The method to count the number of attempts for the UPSC Exams is quite simple.IT IS COUNTED SEPARATELY FOR THE DIFFERENT EXAMS CONDUCTED BY THE UPSC.
Some of the exams, and the number of attempts permitted are listed below.
~~The CIVIL SERVICE Exams are conducted once in an year by the UPSC.
*The age limit for open students is 21 to 30 years. However, the upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years for the OBC candidates and by 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
*The number of attempts permitted for a General category candidate is 4.The number is however increased to 7 for OBC candidates and unlimited for SC/ST candidates until they satisfy the age criteria and are graduated.
~~The candidates are allowed unlimited number of attempts for the NDA and the CDS EXAMINATIONS,provided they satisfy the age, nationaliTy and Educational qualifications.
*The age limit for NDA exams are 16.5 to 19 years and the educational qualification required is passing the 10+2 board exams.
*The age limit for CDS exams are 21 to 25 years and the educational qualification required is passing the Graduation level exams.
*Take note that both these exams are conducted twice in an year and the age limit is not relaxable for any applicant.

SIMILARLY,THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS PERMITTED VARY PER EXAMINATION.IT IS COUNTED SEPARATELY.
    So prepare accordingly.
    Good Luck!!

    Dear,
as PRAJOTH says counting is separate for separate Exams.

Suppose you attempt for NDA Two times but these two times are not counted if you apply for Civil Services.

For Civil Services you can apply 4 times which is maximum chance for a General Candidate.

You can apply for 7 times if you belong to OBC (NON CREAMY LAYER).

and if you Belongs to SC/ST than it has no limit for attempts if your age is less than 35 years.

    dear friend,

limit number of attempts is valid on only Civil Services exam, IFS

exam and there is no limit on any other exam conducted by UPSC.

    Limit Number Of Attempts:

    General Category: 4 attempts

    OBC Category: 7 attempts

    SC/ST Category: no limit

if you will apply for the exam and does not appear for any exam

then it will not considered as a attempt. The attempt only considered

when you apply and appear for any of the exam.

    Good Luck......
